Sunday Morning in the Church of Beethoven

Okay, you may be sick of the "Moonlight" sonata (name not provided by LvB), but here's a bonus, the famous Gary Oldman version from Immortal Beloved.  Movie is preposterous but love deaf Gary.  As always, my Beethoven book here.

I mentioned the other day that I was one of a distinct minority of moviegoers who had seen "Copying Beethoven", a film that seemed to be a ripopff of the concept behind "Shakespeare in Love", but I have NEVER seen "Immortal Beloved". Right now, with the demands on my time, I think I'd rather listen to some Beethoven rather than see this movie. Speaking of "Das Mondlicht": if you go to Valentina Lisistsa's website, which of course is www.valentinalisitsa.com the home page is a closeup of her hands as she plays the FINALE of the piece. William F. Buckley, Jr once said that no pianist should be allowed to play the first movement unless he or she were accomplished enough to play the last movement.
